Volcanic desolation, wind-swept deserts, winters where the sun barely rises, and some of the ugliest architecture known to man: The inspiration for the vicious and somewhat misanthropic offerings Iceland’s heavy metal scene is known for, is obvious. 

Iceland’s metal scene is known for its dark, grim progeny, but Reykjavík-based sextet POWER PALADIN (originally founded as PALADIN) are a joyous beacon in the darkness. On an island known for its musical doom and gloom, they are the midnight sun.

Formed in 2017, their first performances and demo releases were a breath of fresh air in Iceland’s melancholy metal scene, where they quickly rose to prominence. Their debut album, With The Magic of Windfyre Steel, was unleashed upon the world by Atomic Fire Records on January 7th, 2022. 

The following years were a grand adventure, with the band playing both home and abroad to great fanfare. The band quickly started working on new material, but took their time crafting their exquisite sophomore effort – Beyond the Reach of Enchantment, to be released on May 22nd 2026, by Roar, a division of Reigning Phoenix.
